The seven phases Carsens has outlined in its roadmap also include conventional smart irrigation today. Smart irrigation uses data such as weather, soil, topography and plant type to determine the optimal irrigation schedule, and is priced “as a service,” exemplified by the Carsens award. Awarded Irrigation Management as a Service™ (IMAaS™) service. IMaaS enables customers to deploy full-fledged smart irrigation systems while avoiding capital expenditures. Instead, he pays a fixed price for the system every year for 10 years.

The roadmap also includes IoT-first architectures, implementing human factors-based user experience interfaces, and enabling location-based asset management for irrigation and related equipment.
