While virtual reality headsets are stealing some of the limelight, artificial intelligence is still the technology that tops the headlines, and for good reason. Consumers and businesses have expressed concerns about the security of artificial intelligence.
According to a conversation with Google, AxiosGoogle is concerned that AI cybersecurity is being treated as an afterthought, drawing parallels with social media that was developed with good intentions but used maliciously by many.
The company also calls out to those developing advanced technology before the basics are established as the world rushes to advance artificial intelligence.
How to secure artificial intelligence
Google Cloud CISO Phil Venables said: Axios: “People should really remember that even when people are looking for more advanced approaches, they also need to get the basics right.”
The tech giant’s six-pronged approach begins by evaluating existing security controls that can be used with artificial intelligence. A few adjustments to existing work can lay the groundwork for cybersecurity professionals to analyze and respond to threats. Second, Google wants to expand its threat intelligence efforts to include specific AI research.
Then, in response to the severity and scale of potential threats, the company asked to employ automation in the response process, conduct regular reviews of security measures, and conduct penetration tests to check the robustness of the response. I’m here.
Finally, Venables alludes to great potential in the job market, where thousands of workers could be employed. He encourages companies to work with a team of individuals who have a deep understanding of risk and approach.
Many companies working with AI models may already be using some of these strategies, but few are adopting a holistic approach. Google has promised to work with its own customers and governments to address the issue.
In his farewell message, Venables said: Axios: “We think we’re pretty far along in our company’s history on these subjects, but we’re not arrogant enough to think that people can’t offer suggestions for improvement.”
Clearly more consideration needs to be given to security and privacy concerns related to artificial intelligence to protect everyone, and frankly the distance from the end goal compared to the speed of AI acceleration. is alarming.
