May 16 (Reuters) – Zoom Video Communications (ZM.O) said on Tuesday it will invest an undisclosed amount in Anthropic to integrate the artificial intelligence startup’s technology into its video conferencing platform.
The move marks Zoom’s latest effort to power its services with AI to compete with Microsoft Teams, the dominant video conferencing tool for businesses.
Under the partnership, Anthropic’s Claude, a large-scale language model that competes directly with Microsoft-backed OpenAI’s offerings, will be integrated into Zoom’s platform.
Claude is built to perform tasks similar to ChatGPT by responding to prompts with human-like text output, and will first be added to Zoom Contact Center, a call center service.
Zoom announced a partnership with OpenAI in March to add AI-driven features like conversation summaries and message drafts to the Zoom IQ Assistant.
Microsoft Teams introduced a premium version of its ChatGPT-powered app in February, while Salesforce Slack (CRM.N) also revealed plans to integrate ChatGPT into its collaboration software Slack.
