Srinagar, July 28 (KNO): Prime Minister Omar Abdullah said on Tuesday that those who have been claiming for five days that PDP president Mehbooba Mufti’s controversial video was generated by AI should also express regret, saying that she herself had clarified that the statement was made by her.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of an event in Srinagar, Omar said there was a clear difference between expressing regret and apologizing, and that Mehbooba was not seeking an apology, according to the Kashmir News Observer (KNO) news agency.
He said the bigger issue is about people who have spent the past five days claiming that controversial videos were generated by AI. “What happened to those who tried to cover up this issue for five days by spreading lies? Today, Mehbooba ji herself debunked those claims saying the video is not AI,” he said.
The Chief Minister also questioned the stand of the PDP MLA who repeatedly called the video AI-generated.
“The president of her own party debunked that claim. He kept saying for five days that it was generated by AI, but today Mehbooba Ji herself said it was not AI. They should also express regret. Even if they don’t apologize, they should at least express regret,” Omar said.
In response to the PDP’s proposed protest and call for restoration of Article 370, Omar said the government would announce its next course of action at the appropriate time.
The Prime Minister also said that due to its alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party, the party is responsible for the current situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
“We have come to this situation because of them. If they had not brought the Bharatiya Janata Party to power, we would not be here today. If they have realized their mistakes and are trying to rectify them, that is a good thing,” he said — (KNO)
