Netflix’s hit series “Agent Kim, Revitalized” will use AI technology to create a three-minute action scene, marking the industry’s first commercial use of AI-generated video in a drama, production company Morpheus Studios announced Thursday.
The AI-generated scenes appear in the first two episodes, depicting Kim, played by So Ji-sub, as a secret agent on a secret mission in North Korea.
Everything in the scene, from Kim blowing up buildings, running through snow-covered roads, and submerging in a river, to the close-up shots of Kim’s face, was created using AI and no live-action footage was used. The studio used Aicron, a proprietary AI platform that generates video from text prompts within a single production interface.
This will be the first time that a Korean drama series will air a series completely created using AI technology.

“The key is to use AI to generate entire sequences that are important to the story, rather than editing a few seconds of VFX shots,” said Ryu Jae-hwan, vice president of Morpheus Studios.
“‘Agent Kim Reactivation’ had a clear vision to incorporate AI from the beginning, making it possible to generate high-quality AI sequences,” Ryu said. “This is a powerful example of how AI can be a creative tool and a great partner for creators with strong ideas,” he said.
The “Agent Kim Revitalization” production team also cut costs on sequences that required expensive sets, location filming, pyrotechnics, and visual effects.
Morpheus Studio said on social media: “This project shows how far South Korea’s AI technology has advanced and is now capable of producing commercial quality videos.”
