Fact check:
of DFRAC A team of researchers investigated the viral video and found that claims of large hailstorms in Maharashtra are false. The video is A.I.-generated. During our research, we found several metrics commonly associated with AI-generated videos. A closer look at the video revealed that the greengrocer appeared to have been damaged by the huge hail. However, the writing on the signboard is neither Hindi nor Marathi. Such distorted or unintelligible characters on the signboard are A.I.-Generated content. It was further observed that while vehicle registration numbers in India usually have four digits, the number plate of the car shown as damaged by the huge hailstone had only three digits.

Additionally, recordings taken from multiple angles raise further suspicions. In such a dangerous situation with such huge hail, it would be impossible for humans to record in such a systematic and multi-directional manner. For example, in the last part of the video, a camera is placed on the ground in the middle of the road and appears to be recording the sky. In such extreme situations, this kind of steady, deliberately planned recording looks unnatural and raises serious questions about the authenticity of the video. As part of our research, we also conducted a Google search using keywords related to large hailstorms in Maharashtra. However, no news reports reporting such incidents were found.
For further verification, our team A.I. Expert Mayank Sharma. According to him, several aspects of the video strongly suggest that it is: A.I.-generated. He explained that the hail’s size, speed, and how it reacts upon impact do not match the laws of physics of nature. He also pointed out that the camera movement and footage taken from different angles appeared unusual. With hailstorms of this magnitude expected, the calm and systematic way in which the scene was recorded from multiple viewpoints is inconsistent with the reality of the situation.
Conclusion:
of DFRAC A fact check will clearly prove that the claim is false. This video does not show the actual event of massive hailstorm in Maharashtra. Rather, it’s an AI-generated video.
