Microsoft Scout AI Agent Microsoft 365

Applications of AI

At Build 2026, Microsoft announced Scout, an always-on artificial intelligence agent designed to work independently across Microsoft 365 applications. Scout can access Teams, Outlook, Calendar, Contacts, OneDrive, and SharePoint to assist users without continuous prompts.

Built on Microsoft’s OpenClaw framework, Scout uses advanced reasoning to prioritize tasks and surface relevant information. Over time, agents learn your patterns and preferences to personalize assistance.

Scout differs from traditional chatbots in that it runs continuously in the background without requiring the user to initiate a conversation. Agents can identify important messages, schedule meetings, and generate reports without explicit instructions.

Privacy controls allow users to set boundaries around what applications Scout can access and what data it can retrieve. Businesses can define policies that govern Scout behavior across Microsoft 365 tenants.

Scout is integrated with the Microsoft Foundry model catalog. This catalog includes over 11,000 models, including OpenAI’s GPT-5.5, Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini, and thousands of open source alternative models. Organizations can choose the underlying model that powers their Scout deployment.

Preview access will begin for enterprise customers in late 2026, with general release in 2027.
