An FIR has been registered against the social media page ‘Coomaraswamy for CM’ for allegedly circulating a manipulated video targeting Karnataka Chief Minister DKShivakumar.

The case was registered at Sadashivanagar police station on the basis of a complaint filed by advocate Deepu CR. The complainant alleged that the fake video, created using artificial intelligence technology, was shared on social media platforms with the aim of tarnishing the image and reputation of the Chief Minister.

According to the complaint, the video was designed to portray DKShivakumar in a misleading manner and tarnish his social standing.

It further claimed that the content was intended to spread false information and cause confusion among the people, thereby disrupting social harmony.

Police invoked relevant legal provisions and registered an FIR against the social media page.

Investigators are investigating the source of the video, who was responsible for creating and distributing it, and whether AI-generated or deepfake technology was used to create the video.

Sadashivanagar police have launched an investigation and are collecting digital evidence as part of the investigation.

The incident comes amid growing concerns about the misuse of artificial intelligence and deepfake technology to create misleading political content and spread misinformation on social media platforms.
