Taylor Swift has released the music video for her latest single, “I Knew It, I Knew You,” a country-inspired original song she wrote for “Toy Story 5.”
The video is composed entirely of Toy Story footage and focuses on Jessie, who inspired the song and also appears on the track’s cover art. Viewers can listen to the clip on Spotify and Apple Music.
“I Knew It, I Knew You” was released on streaming services late last night, shortly after she announced she would be releasing the single earlier this week. To the tune of the song, she posted on social media a vintage video of herself as a young girl wearing a red cowgirl hat and a shirt with embroidered boots.
“Writing this song felt like leaving music and coming home at the same time,” she wrote in the post. “Creating something for Jesse was a new challenge, but it quickly felt like second nature. And being a @toystory kid from age 5 to now is an adventure I plan on continuing indefinitely and beyond.
“Thank you to the wonderful Andrew Stanton for imagining me all those years ago when you wrote this latest work. Thank you to the incomparable @randynewmanofficial for the gorgeous sonic tapestry of songs and music that you so meticulously wove over the years. We created a musical world, and we’re lucky to live in it. By us, I mean myself and my friend @jackantonoff. We wrote this piece with great respect. These characters made us laugh, helped us learn lessons and think outside our backyards throughout our childhoods. ”
Swift co-produced and co-wrote the song with Jack Antonoff, who she reunited with for the first time since “The Tortured Poets”. In addition to the digital single, Swift also offers CD and vinyl versions of the song, but the physical version quickly sold out.
Toy Story 5 will have its gala premiere on June 9th and will be released in theaters on June 19th.
