That’s exactly what happens. That’s not a lie. I cannot stress this enough. This is where the Golden Rule (do unto others) comes into play in the real world. I feel like Cassandra when I’m here. LLMs are left in the wild, and that wild place is the internet, so they’re learning some awful crap. The internet is Pandora’s box. The little butterfly called Hope is mostly silent.
What I want from others is to be your best self when interacting with ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, Claude, Gork, Chat, Poe, Character, and anyone else you find or meet. What you’re doing is training machine learning. You’re not talking to an intelligent machine; you’re feeding data to a machine that is learning at an incredible rate, with millions of people at the same time.
What happened here is that five billionaires released a huge machine learning program into the world. That’s us. we are wild Whenever you interact with ChatGPT or any of the others, you are teaching LLM (Large-Scale Language Models). That’s the scary part. We all know how people are on the internet. Even my little fellow Mormon mother-in-law threatened to kill Obama in the early days of Facebook. She got everything back, but people still do it as the beginning of the internet. We are all learning like machines, but not as fast.
A machine released onto the Internet will see everything on the Internet as just data. It’s like the movie “Five is Alive”. They need input. Everything published on the internet belongs to them and they use it for their own purposes. This includes those from other LLM machines. In that sense, all the LLM machines mentioned above are communicating with each other.
Like everything else in this new step in machine learning, it’s 50-50 whether this is a good or bad thing. Perhaps it’s worse or better, but it’s not perfect or evil.
