Sage has expanded Sage Intacct with new automation and artificial intelligence capabilities for financial workflows covering accounts receivable, accounts payable, purchasing, and SaaS analytics.
This update adds payment reminder tools for accounts receivable teams, invoice matching in accounts payable, custom approval rules in purchasing, and a new AI gateway that connects Sage Intacct with external AI tools via REST APIs and model context protocols.
This addition is aimed at finance teams under pressure to improve cash flow, make faster decisions, and maintain tighter oversight across day-to-day operations. Sage also cited a Gartner survey showing that 88% of chief financial officers list finance staff productivity as a top priority for 2026.
The latest release expands workflow automation across several key financial areas. In Receables, a new Cash Intelligence feature, Payment Reminders, brings together customers with open or overdue invoices in one view and lets your team send one-click or bulk reminder emails using default templates.
For accounts payable teams, a new 3-way AI-powered matching feature connects invoices, purchase orders, and receipts. This tool compares prices, quantities, and totals and flags item-level discrepancies before payment.
Purchasing regulations have also been expanded. Custom approvals in Purchasing allow organizations to set up multi-criteria approval rules using transaction fields such as vendor, amount, department, location, and category so that requests can be routed to the appropriate approvers.
AI access
At the heart of the update is the Sage Intacct AI Gateway, designed to enable customers and partners to build their own AI-driven processes on top of their financial systems. The gateway connects Sage Intacct data to external applications and AI services while preserving existing roles, permissions, and workflow controls.
It also uses the Model Context Protocol, an open standard designed to link AI systems and business software. This gives organizations a way to connect financial data to AI tools without changing the approval structures or access rights already defined in finance operations.
For software companies and subscription businesses, Sage also released SaaS Intelligence 2.0. This update adds AI-based analytics for forecasting, cohort analysis, customer segmentation, annual and monthly recurring revenue tracking, and dashboards designed to highlight trends in churn, retention, and expansion.
Availability varies by feature and region. The 3-Way Matching Tool is generally available worldwide, and the AI Gateway is generally available in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and South Africa. Payment reminders, custom approvals at the time of purchase, and SaaS Intelligence 2.0 are available through early adopter programs in select markets.
The broader context is that finance departments are being asked to do more than just generate reports and close accounts. Companies want their finance teams to help manage working capital, monitor costs, and support operational decisions, but many teams still operate across disconnected systems and manual processes.
Sage Intact senior vice president John Fasoli said this reflects a broader change in the role of the finance team.
“A great finance team no longer just closes the books and reports what happened,” said John Fasoli, senior vice president, Sage Intact, Sage.
“We look forward to improving cash flow, guiding decisions, and business continuity while maintaining strong control. These latest Sage Intacct updates help reduce manual effort across day-to-day financial operations by embedding automation and AI directly into the workflows your teams rely on most. This increases visibility and enables your organization to respond faster while maintaining strong operational oversight and control,” said Fasoli.
Baker Tilly also pointed to the demand for more immediate access to information in day-to-day financial processes.
Chris Price, director of SaaS verticals at Baker Tilly, said: “As organizations look to modernize their finance operations, finance teams need greater visibility across their daily workflows while quickly accessing meaningful insights.”
“These latest Sage Intacct updates combine workflow automation and enhanced SaaS intelligence analytics to help organizations operate with more confidence, gain more actionable insights, and improve strategic decision-making at scale,” Price said.
