Edtech company Great Learning revealed that 66% of enrollments in its 2020 AI program were professionals with non-technical backgrounds, highlighting the increased adoption of AI skills beyond traditional technology roles.
The company said demand is primarily driven by experienced professionals, with around 64% of non-technical learners having more than 12 years of work experience. These participants come from sectors such as healthcare, BFSI, manufacturing, FMCG, education, retail, and pharmaceuticals.
To address this trend, Great Learning has introduced a no-code learning track across its data science, machine learning, generative AI, and agent AI programs. Learners can now choose between coding and no-code pathways within the same course, making AI education more accessible to professionals without programming experience.

Arjun Nair He said professionals in fields such as finance, healthcare, operations, and supply chain are increasingly using AI tools to improve productivity and decision-making without requiring deep technical expertise.
The company also noted that there is a shift towards shorter-term, application-centric AI programs as professionals seek faster upskilling opportunities to align with rapidly evolving technologies such as generative AI and agent AI. Most of the newly launched AI courses are designed within a 3-5 month time frame to support continuous learning in the workplace.
