Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India]May 23 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Congress leader Ajay Rai on Saturday dismissed it as an “AI-generated” video that went viral on social media after an FIR was lodged against him for allegedly making derogatory remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Rai told ANI that he had no intention of withdrawing and that Congress would file a counter-suit. He also claimed that a Dalit girl was raped in Mahoba and demanded justice.
He said, “That Dalit girl from Mahoba should be brought to justice. File 100 cases against me instead of 10. We will not back down. This is an AI-generated video. Our workers will definitely file cases too.”
An FIR was registered against UP Congress Committee Chairman Ajay Rai in Mahoba district under various sections of the BNS following his controversial remarks against Prime Minister Modi and allegedly disturbing public order.
The police action came after a video showing a rally led by Congress leaders was widely circulated on social media. Police officials said the incident involved unlawful assembly and obstruction of public infrastructure.
“On May 22, a video of state Congress president Ajay Rai illegally gathering with his supporters and disrupting government work and blocking public roads came to our attention through social media,” said Vandana Singh, assistant superintendent of police (ASP).
The police official added, “He also made objectionable remarks against the chief minister. A complaint has been received at Kotwali police station in Mahoba and an FIR has been registered under several sections. Action is being taken.”
The case was formally filed on the basis of a formal complaint by legal scholar Neeraj Rawat, who criticized the political discourse used by the Congress leadership.
An FIR has been registered at the city kotwali (police station) against 25-30 supporters, including outgoing Congress committee secretary Brijiraj Ahirwal. (Ani)
