SBA 2026 Artificial Intelligence Usage Act

    Managers evaluate which tasks can be effectively managed with AI or machine learning and which tasks should remain human-driven to improve operations, productivity, and customer service.

  • Appropriate tools:

    The report should address how to determine the suitability of a particular AI or machine learning tool for different tasks and functions.

  • Needs evaluation:

    Administrators should evaluate whether a proposed AI or machine learning tool adequately meets the SBA’s needs before adopting it.

  • Information session requirements:

    After each report, the administrator must provide an explanation to the relevant parliamentary committee within 30 days.

  • Definition:

    The bill clarifies that the terms “artificial intelligence” and “machine learning” are defined pursuant to existing law under the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021.
