A nine-day event focused on integrating artificial intelligence into education opened in Beijing on Saturday, aiming to build a cooperation platform in the field of educational technology.
The gathering, organized by the Haidian district government, attracted more than 500 officials, academics, and industry leaders.
Zhang Mi, director of the International Technology and Economic Research Institute under the Development Research Center of the State Council, said that the focus of global strategy is shifting from AI research and development to human resource development.

“The essence of competition in artificial intelligence is competition for talent,” said Zhang. “Enhancing education with AI is a strategic issue that will determine whether China can take the lead in the next global competition.”
He added that the education and technology circles should utilize AI as a major productive force by promoting the “AI + education” application scenario, deepening cooperation in the field between public institutions, and developing China’s international influence in AI application.
