Ramsey cautioned how expanding fleet operations could create complications.
“When you’re managing hundreds or thousands of vehicles, even small safety issues or compliance gaps can quickly become operational headaches that turn into financial problems,” he said.
Safety, compliance and fuel efficiency were identified as three key areas that companies should aim to optimize, but Ramsey noted that doing so comes with complexities.
“These are often treated separately, but in reality they are often deeply connected,” he says.
“Fuel-efficient drivers are often safe drivers, and the rigor of driving practices to be fuel-efficient and safe often means a compliant driver from a compliance perspective.”
Success in these areas can significantly reduce overall vehicle risk, which in turn can lead to more favorable insurance renewals, Ramsey explained.

The benefits that fleets can achieve using AI-driven technology have been further expanded, especially for fleet businesses that require high levels of visibility across their operations.
“AI helps transform all these data points into actionable insights,” Ramsey said.
“It helps us intervene early in the process, whether it’s optimizing safety risks in how routes are approached, resolving customer service inquiries, or all the different challenges that fleets face at scale.”
Ramsey said these tools allow fleets to anticipate problems and proactively address them, such as by implementing driver training to improve compliance.

Fleets can leverage smart, connected solutions to improve operational efficiency and prevent incidents.
“By connecting all data into one platform, fleets will be able to identify risky behaviors in a more time-efficient manner and provide more consistent coaching across operations,” Ramsey said. “So everyone has the same experience on how to be coached, which helps digitize both safety and compliance workflows.”
The benefits of digitalization go beyond just environmental savings and streamlining the entire process through going paperless.
“As soon as the workflow is completed, that data is in the system,” Ramsey says.
“We can even know the very precise GPS location of where that workflow was completed or where that incident occurred, instantly ensuring that the vehicle and driver were where they were supposed to be when that action occurred.”
