SparkLab launches AI-based standalone startup program “Spark Claw”

Start accepting advance applications for the first generation of Spark Claw students

SparkLab announced on April 28th that it will officially launch Spark Claw, an accelerator program focused on individual AI entrepreneurs and small teams in the age of Agentic AI.

The launch of this program is part of SparkLab’s strategy to strengthen its investment positioning in the domestic AI field. SparkLab already has a track record of early investments in OpenAI, Anthropic, and Perplexity through SparkLab Global Ventures, the global VC arm of SparkLab Group. The company also invested in xAI, which was acquired by SpaceX this year, and Groq, which was acquired by Nvidia last year.

Spark Claw aims to discover and develop “AI native” entrepreneurs who leverage AI not just as a tool but as actual team members. With this program, SparkLab is making a serious effort to invest in solopreneurs who operate without a team. This is the first time that the investment philosophy has been expanded rather than relaxing existing investment standards.

SparkLab has reinterpreted the existing principle that a great CEO’s core competency lies in how they lead their team for the Agentic AI environment. In an environment where AI agents are responsible for planning, development, marketing, and customer support, Spark Labs believes that individual founders who can effectively manage such capabilities will have the same competitive advantage as traditional team-based startups. Through this program, Spark Lab plans to actively cultivate entrepreneurs with excellent AI utilization skills.

The selection process consists of an online application, an initial document review, participation in an intensive bootcamp, and a final investment review. Entrepreneurs who complete the boot camp can receive an initial investment of up to 100 million won. Teams that are not selected for investment will be categorized and managed as SparkLab’s Stage 2 or Stage 3 teams and will maintain priority access to follow-up batch programs and community membership.

Entrepreneurs selected for investment will receive the same benefits offered to the SparkLab portfolio, as well as additional benefits specific to AI companies worth KRW 500 million in cash. These include OpenAI API credits, Anthropic Claude credits, AWS startup discounts, and global SaaS tools packages. All of these provide essential infrastructure for AI startups and help ease the financial burden during the early stages of entrepreneurship.

Pre-registration for the first batch of Spark Claw students can be done through SparkLab’s official website. Detailed schedule and application qualifications will be announced in due course.
