Lucknow: Describing the 21st century as an era of “AI warfare” where nations compete with technological intelligence rather than weapons, Sarojini Nagar MLA Rajeshwar Singh called for an aggressive push towards artificial intelligence (AI)-led growth. In his communiqué to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Singh proposed a series of policy interventions, including creation of a dedicated UP AI Research and Innovation Fund, establishment of a State AI Commission, and a structured seed funding policy to support AI startups, incubators and innovation hubs. Highlighting India’s demographic strength, Singh said that almost 65% of the country’s population is below the age of 35 and it is essential to transform the youth from passive users of technology to active creators and innovators. He highlighted that AI is rapidly becoming central to sectors such as defence, cybersecurity, healthcare, agriculture, governance and education. “Countries that lead in AI will write the history of the future,” Singh said, urging young people to develop coding skills, data literacy and critical thinking. He asserted that Uttar Pradesh needs to go beyond adopting AI technology to establish itself as a hub for AI talent and innovation through sustained investment and ecosystem support.
