Coding startup Cognition AI eyes $25 billion valuation after acquisition of Windsurf: Report — TFN

AI News

Cognition AI is in early talks to raise funding at a valuation of about $25 billion, more than double its current valuation of $10.2 billion, according to Bloomberg. Terms are still under review and subject to change.

The announcement comes months after the company raised more than $400 million in new funding led by Founders Fund.

The AI coding startup was founded in late 2023 by Scott Wu, Steven Hao, and Walden Yan to build an autonomous AI software engineer called Devin that can handle projects from start to finish, including writing, testing, and deployment.

Cognition is growing rapidly compared to other AI startups. The company acquired Windsurf in July 2025, and its product Devin’s annual recurring revenue increased from $1 million in September 2024 to $73 million by June 2025, according to VentureBeat. This growth attracted investors and made the company even bigger through acquisitions.

Since acquiring Windsurf, Cognition’s annual recurring revenue has more than doubled, according to CNBC. This growth gives the company a strong revenue base and a valuation of $25 billion based on popular AI software standards.

If Cognition closes a $25 billion funding round, it will become one of the most valuable AI coding companies in the world.
