Google Cloud announces AI agent platform, infrastructure for enterprises

Applications of AI

Google Cloud, the AI-powered cloud platform, announced a series of new technologies aimed at supporting the development and deployment of autonomous AI agents across Southeast Asia.

Google Cloud said in a release Thursday that the move reflects a broader trend in the industry to integrate AI more deeply into enterprise systems, with a focus on automation, scalability, and security.

Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform helps organizations build, scale, and manage AI agents that can perform complex tasks. The platform combines model selection, development, orchestration, and security capabilities into a single system.

Adoption of Gemini Enterprise is growing, with Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai reporting a 40% increase in paid monthly active users from the previous quarter in the first quarter of 2026. He noted that organizations’ focus is increasingly shifting from building individual AI agents to managing large-scale deployments.

Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian said the platform aims to connect data, applications, and AI systems into integrated workflows to help organizations streamline their operations.

Google Cloud reported that nearly 75% of its customers use AI products in their work. These include Southeast Asian companies such as CIMB Niaga and FairPrice Group, as well as global organizations such as NASA, Mars, and Unilever. Examples include applications such as banking services, retail experiences, corporate operations, and spaceflight safety.

The company also updated its AI infrastructure, including the introduction of 8th generation Tensor Processing Units, TPU 8t and TPU 8i. These chips offer improved performance and efficiency compared to previous generations, and provide AI model training and real-time inference.

Additionally, Google Cloud outlined data and security enhancements. Agentic Data Cloud aims to provide a unified architecture for managing enterprise data across multiple environments, and new security tools incorporate AI to detect and respond to threats. The company says its systems have already been used to process millions of security alerts and reduce analysis time.

Google Cloud also introduced updates to Google Workspace productivity tools, including AI-powered features for email, document creation, and collaboration aimed at supporting interactions between users and AI agents.
