Wowza introduces AI-powered video workflows and new streaming architecture at NAB Show 2026

AI Video & Visuals

Las Vegas – April 14, 2026Wowza returns to NAB Show 2026 with a series of live demonstrations focused on how video infrastructure is evolving for a new generation of AI-powered operational workflows. From real-time video intelligence to emerging media delivery architectures to continued platform innovation, Wowza uses NAB to demonstrate how live video systems can become more practical, adaptable, and production-ready.

As video becomes more of a critical operational system than just a delivery format, the infrastructure must do more than just move streams from point A to point B. At NAB, Wowza will highlight how modern streaming systems can support AI inference, workflow automation, observability, and new delivery models without having to rebuild teams from scratch.

“Video infrastructure is the solution to streaming 20 What companies now want is fundamentally different: They want video to drive decisions and actions across the enterprise. In each of these scenarios, the data in the video has the power to change the way businesses operate and drive the way they make mission-critical decisions. You’re not coming to Wowza, you’re coming to Wowza to leverage your video data, not just stream it.”

Preview new AI-powered live video workflows

Wowza will also be the first to introduce attendees and media to a new framework designed to help organizations make live video more operationally useful by enabling AI-powered workflows directly from the live stream.

The amount of video that sports leagues, broadcasters, and streaming operators manage has exploded, but the underlying workflows haven’t kept up. We need more clips, more metadata, more monetization opportunities, and more operational oversight, and most organizations are still managing this with manual teams or infrastructure built from scratch. For too long, intelligence resided within the camera itself or the system had to be completely gutted to get something smarter. Meanwhile, the camera is already there. Wowza’s latest efforts are designed to unlock what your existing infrastructure can actually do without having to reinvent the wheel.

The first demonstration shows how a live stream can be converted into a real-time signal on which downstream systems can operate.

· Contextual ad break triggersscene and object detection can help identify more natural monetization opportunities in live content.

· Tagging live content and generating metadatahelping teams transform what’s happening in their streams into searchable, structured information

· Operational event detectionlive video can trigger alerts, workflows, or downstream actions without anyone having to see every frame.

For sports and media organizations, this opens the door to workflows that were previously expensive, fragile, or reserved for companies with large in-house engineering teams, from smarter highlights and clip pipelines to more responsive production and monetization systems.

Emerging Media over QUIC (MOQ) Workflow

At NAB, Wowza will also partner with Cloudflare for a live demonstration of its next-generation streaming architecture built around Media over QUIC (MOQ), highlighting how video delivery workflows are evolving to support more modern, flexible, and low-latency delivery models.

The demo will feature workflows spanning OBS, Wowza origin infrastructure, Cloudflare relay infrastructure, and MOQ playback, allowing attendees to experience how teams can explore open, modern delivery architectures without having to reinvent the core streaming stack.

As part of this, Wowza Chief Solutions Architect Barry Owen will be giving a demo at the Cloudflare booth (W2300).) During the show:

· Sunday, 12:00pm – 1:00pm

· Tuesdays, 2:00pm – 3:00pm

Continuous innovation across the Wowza streaming engine

In addition to these demonstrations, Wowza will discuss continued innovation in various areas. Wowza streaming engineThis includes advances designed to support more flexible, easy-to-observe, and production-ready live video workflows.
