BEIJING, April 11 (Xinhua) – China Kuomintang (KMT) Party Chairman Cheng Liyun observed the progress of artificial intelligence (AI) and innovation-driven growth in Beijing, and emphasized the potential for cross-strait cooperation.
Chen, who led the Kuomintang delegation on a visit to Beijing that began Friday afternoon, said he had specifically requested to inspect AI education in Beijing schools and interact with technology companies, calling the trip “valuable.”
The delegation’s first stop was Tsinghua University High School, where they learned about the application of AI in education. In the school’s laboratory, the delegation observed projects developed by students, including a robot soccer game, a robot dog, and a robot arm.
During his visit, Mr. Chen interacted with students and teachers and praised their efforts.
On Saturday morning, the delegation visited the Zhongguancun Exhibition Center and experienced first-hand Beijing’s strong momentum in building into an AI innovation hub.
Mr. Chen expressed keen interest in the “bionic intelligent hand” on display, studied its movements in detail, and encouraged other delegation members to try it out.
The delegation then held talks with representatives of technology companies such as AI model developer Zhipu AI and robotics company Galbot to explore new opportunities for cross-Strait science and technology cooperation.
“I’m very happy,” Chen said, adding that practices such as incorporating AI into basic education and using technological innovation to promote industrial growth could provide useful guidance for Taiwan’s industrial upgrading efforts.
She called for more support to help Taiwan’s youth unlock their potential. He said that without political obstacles, cross-Strait cooperation could bring significant contributions to humanity.
The delegation will also visit cultural attractions such as the National Performing Arts Center and Beijing’s Palace Museum, and will visit the Xiaomi Automobile Factory on Sunday before returning to Taiwan at noon the same day. ■
