In less than a year, more than 400 higher education institutions in all 50 states have joined the Google AI for Education Accelerator. The Google AI for Education Accelerator is a free program that provides AI and other work-ready skills to students, faculty, and staff. As part of the Accelerator, universities will receive access to the Google AI Professional Certificate. It was one of the first AI programs to receive a credit recommendation from the American Council on Education (ACE).
Helping students prepare for employment
The Google AI Professional Certification was created by Google experts with input from industry-leading employers and provides students with the AI skills employers seek. This program focuses on practical skills that apply across industries, allowing students to solve everyday work challenges while earning college credits toward a degree.
Hundreds of partners across the country are already taking advantage of these resources, including the University of Arkansas, the University of Texas System, and Vanderbilt University.
For example, Texas A&M University System launched an AI Learnathon to provide AI training and tools to staff and faculty. University of Virginia students who earn the AI Professional certification will have the opportunity to immediately put their skills to use by partnering with local small businesses to help them incorporate AI into their daily operations. And the University of Michigan offers AI professional certifications to all students, faculty, staff, and alumni through its Center for Academic Innovation.
