The Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB), in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT) Mumbai, has launched a national AI skilling initiative in partnership with Google and YouTube. The program will provide 15,000 scholarships to students and young professionals in creative fields.
According to an official statement, the initiative aims to equip learners with practical AI skills in fields such as media, entertainment, animation, gaming, and digital storytelling.
What are the benefits for students?
This program focuses on building practical, work-ready skills. Students will learn how to use AI tools in real-world creative workflows. You can also learn more about content creation and platform practices, especially for YouTube.
The curriculum is designed to prepare learners to be production-ready and directly apply their skills in professional settings, the statement said.
The program will be delivered in two phases. In Phase I, all selected participants will receive training on basic AI concepts. This is done through Google Career Certificates and Google Cloud’s generated AI learning paths. Emphasis will be placed on the basics, responsible use, and core understanding of AI.
In Phase II, learners who complete the first stage move on to advanced training. This includes hands-on projects, storytelling techniques, and training on Google’s AI tools. We also discuss YouTube best practices. According to an official statement, this phase will be delivered in hybrid mode across major creative hubs.
This initiative aims to prepare students for new roles in the creative economy. Combine AI skills with practical applications in content and storytelling.

IICT will lead the implementation. Manage program design, support, and execution. The curriculum was developed in collaboration with Google and YouTube to meet industry needs.
The program builds on the ‘Create with AI’ initiative previously launched by IICT and YouTube. The new plan expands this effort into a national structured training program, the statement said.
Earlier this year, the federal government highlighted sectors such as AVGC, gaming and digital content as key growth areas in its 2026 federal budget, highlighting the growing role of the “orange economy”. The Budget also mentions the role of the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT) in building a skilled talent pipeline for creative technologies, while proposing expansion of AI-enabled laboratories and digital infrastructure, including at the school level, for early access to new tools.
