Horizon Robotics invests in physics AI company SynapX

AI For Business

Gasgoo Munich – Physical AI company SynapX announced it has secured nearly $50 million in its first funding round, with support from Horizon Robotics, GL Ventures, Xiaomi Strategic Investment, ShunWei Capital, and Linear Capital.

Founded in January 2026, SynapX is dedicated to building sustainable, self-evolving, embodied intelligence. Its founder Mr. Du Dalong previously founded PhiGent Robotics, was the sixth founding employee of Horizon Robotics, and was also a founding member of Baidu’s IDL. Co-founders Liang Zhujin, Pan Yangjiayi, and Fan Qingyuan also bring extensive experience from Horizon or PhiGent Robotics.

SynapX took less than two months from start to finish for its first round. This is a fast pace that confirms the market’s confidence in the founding team, technology roadmap, and long-term value.

Proceeds from this round will be primarily used for core technology and product development, data infrastructure construction, and talent acquisition. Meanwhile, the company is already advancing its next round of funding, attracting continued interest and support from global industrial capital, family offices, and top US dollar funds.

Along with the funding news, SynapX announced the SYNTH architecture. In the company’s view, true embodied intelligence goes beyond understanding the world. You need to execute operational tasks within a real physical environment and form a closed execution loop. Achieving this relies not only on model scale, but also on the unified design of model architecture, world modeling, and data systems.

Specifically, the SYNTH architecture consists of SYNAction, a model architecture for operational intelligence. SYNWorld, an “omniscient” fundamental model for understanding the physical world. SYNData is a multimodal data system that drives the continuous evolution of models.

For SYNAction, SynapX pioneered REMA, a split-frequency, multiscale, end-to-end operational architecture. Achieve a closed loop from perception to execution across three layers within an integrated model. System 2 (low frequency) handles task understanding, cognitive reasoning, and high-level planning. System 1 (medium frequency) generates behavioral strategies and bridges cognition and execution. System 0 (high frequency) manages the underlying control and fine-grained interactions.

For the SYNWorld component, SynapX developed VFT-WFM, a framework that integrates vision, force, and touch into physical interaction modeling. This allows the robot to not only recognize what it sees, but also understand how to perform operations, make contact, and apply force.

At SYNData, SynapX built OPDS and introduced the concept of “AI as a sensor.” The system leverages a unique hardware design and innovative AI algorithms to enable highly accurate collection and scalable generation of multimodal physical signals such as vision, force, and haptics, providing the high-quality data needed for continuous model evolution.

About “Seeds Discovery”:

Gasgoo’s Seeds Discovery column is designed to build a platform that connects startups, industrial ecosystem partners, investors, and local governments to empower upstream and downstream supply chains. Since its inception, this column has focused on identifying outstanding companies, technologies, and business models that provide inspiration and leadership in the wave of intelligent transformation. According to Gasgoo, almost all startups covered by “Seeds Discovery” have successfully connected with industrial ecosystem resources.
