We build on more than a decade of leadership in digital learning and a proven track record in university operations. HawaiiInitial reactions to artificial intelligence (A.I.), Gloria Niles will transition to the role of Chief Academic Technology and Innovation Officer, effective March 19.
In this executive role, ah In the Office of the Provost, Niles will lead the modernization of technology infrastructure and coordinate innovation across the university’s 10-campus system, while grounding global innovation in Native Hawaiian values. Her core mission includes inclusive development. A.I. Strategies to strengthen research capacity, administrative efficiency, and the educational environment.

Niles brings 11 years of experience within the industry. ah System to her new position. Her outstanding leadership in this field has recently been recognized by her WCET Winner of the Russ Pullin Award for Excellence in Digital Learning Policy.

Niles’ main priorities for year one are: A.I. Strategies for preparing what comes in K– 12 students and university graduates have grown and A.I.-Effective job market. This includes building a robust governance framework to address rapidly changing privacy, security, and environmental impacts.
“Our goals include developing an action plan and strategic roadmap. A.I. Integration. We aim to carefully implement these technologies to ensure alignment with Native Hawaiian values within our internal operations and work with faculty to integrate them. A.I. across the curriculum,” Niles said.
She envisions tailored curricular strategies to ensure all graduates learn, from comprehensive institutional learning outcomes to course-specific objectives. A.I. Literacy required for each specialized field. Equally important to this modernization effort is maintaining the university’s cultural foundation as a place of Native Hawaiian learning.
“As a Native-serving agency with a kuleana (responsibility) to the Native Hawaiian community, any action we take A.I. Integration must be based on Hawaiian culture and values,” Niles said.
Niles has been at the forefront of this. ah‘s A.I. From the second half of 2022, we will begin responding as co-leaders of the entire system. A.I. Strategy meeting.
