Every day, companies around the world rely on SAP applications to keep their businesses running. In fact, 84% of the world’s commerce uses SAP applications.
For decades, our customers have built strong digital foundations on SAP, run end-to-end business processes across their enterprises, and extended and customized these systems to support their unique business needs. Many companies are now entering the next phase of their transformation. It’s all about modernizing your SAP environment and unlocking the full potential of AI.
As enterprises move to cloud-based SAP environments and clean-core architectures, they are preparing to embed intelligence directly into their business processes. This enables new forms of automation with AI agents working across enterprise systems to perform increasingly complex tasks.
Modernizing these systems while deploying AI at scale is an important task. This requires technology that integrates with existing applications, works reliably within mission-critical workflows, and meets the governance standards demanded by enterprises.
That’s why we’ve partnered with NVIDIA over the past few years to combine advanced AI technology with deep business context. Our goal is to help organizations accelerate their modernization and apply AI across the applications and processes that are key to their success. This collaboration will be unveiled at NVIDIA GTC.
Build the foundation for enterprise-grade AI
Through our collaboration with NVIDIA, we are accelerating the entire enterprise AI lifecycle, from model development to high-performance runtime execution, and powering AI scenarios across our portfolio. Comprised of open libraries such as NeMo Gym and NeMo RL, NVIDIA NeMo™ helps accelerate model training at scale across distributed RL environments. This enables teams to build and refine enterprise-grade AI models faster.
Models are hosted through SAP AI Core and Generative AI Hub, and customers and partners leverage the best one for their use cases. NVIDIA NIM microservices optimizes inference performance and has seen up to 20% improvement compared to another popular open source serving engine. The performance improvements enabled by NVIDIA GPUs and NVIDIA NIM enable organizations to combine advanced AI models with trusted SAP business data and processes to ensure that AI operates within the workflows that drive business operations.
Modernize the business logic that runs your enterprise
AI models trained on SAP knowledge and accelerated using NVIDIA technology are already helping customers tackle their most pressing modernization challenges. For example, the evolution of the business logic built into the SAP systems that run our business.
For decades, organizations have extended their SAP applications with custom ABAP code that reflects the way their business operates. This logic incorporates years of operational knowledge across finance, supply chain, service processes, and more. But modernizing these environments for the cloud and preparing them for the next generation of AI-driven innovation can be complex.
To accelerate this effort, SAP developed SAP-ABAP-1. An underlying model trained solely on real-world ABAP code and business logic used across SAP environments. The solution incorporates specialized models for code-related tasks, including StarCoder2 for code completion and Codestral for deeper code understanding and explanation. These models are delivered through NVIDIA NIM microservices to enable high-performance inference.
SAP Joule for Developers brings these capabilities to the developer experience, allowing teams to analyze existing ABAP code, understand how customizations interact with core business processes, and generate new code as needed. By making it easy to interpret and update decades of embedded business logic, we help organizations accelerate modernization and maintain the knowledge that makes their operations unique.
Connect AI to your business
The SAP and NVIDIA collaboration also explores how AI can be operationalized within enterprise workflows to help organizations apply intelligence to both physical operations and complex planning environments. One emerging field is embodied AI, where intelligence extends beyond software systems and into the physical world. By combining AI inference with sensors, robotics, and enterprise data, organizations can connect real-world observations directly to digital business processes.
For example, predictive maintenance alerts from SAP Asset Performance Management can trigger robotic inspections that use thermal, visual, and acoustic signals to analyze equipment. These signals are evaluated alongside asset history and maintenance records to identify potential issues. Joule then coordinates follow-up actions through SAP Field Service Management, prioritizing work orders and coaching technicians on appropriate operational status. By linking physical world insights with enterprise workflows, organizations can turn physical world signals into coordinated enterprise actions.
The same principles apply to complex planning environments. Today’s supply chains must manage an ever-changing web of constraints, from supplier availability and transportation disruptions to evolving customer demands. Together with NVIDIA, we are exploring technologies such as NVIDIA Metropolis and NVIDIA Cosmos to bring the latest AI advances to warehouse management, safety, and asset inspection.
We are also introducing new capabilities to SAP Integrated Business Planning that combine agent-based inference with the NVIDIA cuOpt GPU-accelerated optimization engine. This allows planners to simulate complex supply chain scenarios and evaluate alternatives more quickly and accurately. By integrating advanced optimization with SAP’s supply chain planning capabilities, organizations can dynamically model constraints, adapt plans as conditions change, and make more confident decisions in increasingly complex environments.
Collaboration with large SAP customers helps identify real operational bottlenecks and paves the way for AI-driven solutions. In NVIDIA GTC, SAP announces partnership with Foxconn. Taiwan-based global electronics manufacturer and manufacturing solutions provider collaborates with SAP to develop AI-powered innovations for manufacturing and supply chain operations.
By combining SAP’s enterprise applications and business context with Foxconn’s manufacturing expertise, organizations can improve operational efficiency, increase resiliency, and advance decision-making across complex production and supply networks.
Experience agent AI with NVIDIA GTC
SAP has enabled Joule Agent across its application portfolio to help organizations automate tasks and orchestrate complex workflows within business processes. At NVIDIA GTC, visitors will see how these capabilities are extended using Joule Studio on SAP Business Technology Platform to build agents tailored to specific enterprise scenarios.
Additionally, SAP’s AI architecture is model-agnostic, allowing organizations to introduce their own models into these workflows in addition to the models deployed through SAP AI Core. Hands-on experience with NVIDIA GTC demonstrates how organizations can build AI-driven workflows that work directly within the enterprise systems that run their businesses.
It all takes place at NVIDIA GTC, March 16-19, 2026. Learn how SAP and NVIDIA are helping organizations modernize their enterprise systems, accelerate AI adoption, and become an AI-native enterprise.
