The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) today (March 13) released the full music video (MV) of its new anti-fraud song “Confronting Lachachu” under the 2026 anti-fraud public education campaign. The aim is to convey the anti-fraud message in a fun and educational way and to unite all sectors of society in the fight against fraud.

The new music video was inspired by the concept of a kung fu (martial arts) game and was created using artificial intelligence (AI) technology. In this work, HKMA Deputy Director Arthur Yuen transforms into a game character and sings as he faces off against the original con artist character “Rachachu” (Cantonese for sneaky banana) in a battle of good and evil. Rachachu pretends to be a ticket scalper, customer service representative, courier, date, etc. to lure ordinary people into clicking on suspicious links, disclosing personal information, or making instant money transfers. The HKMA urges the public to remember the three golden rules for fraud prevention.

  1. Click on the link and you will be scammed: Don’t click on suspicious links.
  2. The path to quick cash leads to financial ruin.: Never pay upfront fees for rewards.
  3. False romance sucks out real wealth: Don’t send money or share personal information in an “online romance.”

In recent years, the HKMA has actively raised public awareness of fraud prevention through innovative approaches. The release of this new video continues the pragmatic approach of our previous promotional efforts. Fraud incidents have shown signs of slowing down in recent years due to collective action to build a collective defense against fraud in society. According to Hong Kong police statistics, 43,212 fraud cases were recorded in 2025, a 2.9% decrease from 2024 and the first decline since 2019.

The HKMA’s approach to public education is internationally recognized. The HKMA released the anti-fraud song “Don’t click on links indiscriminately” co-starring Arthur Yuen and singer Wang Kwon, and launched an interactive promotion of anti-fraud messages in the community by “Racha Chu”. These efforts were recognized by the international financial publication Central Banking in the “Central Banking Awards 2026 – Communications Initiative”. The HKMA would like to thank the World Jury for this recognition. Going forward, the HKMA will continue to work with various stakeholders to promote fraud prevention in ways that suit people’s lifestyles and continue to strengthen the robustness and resilience of Hong Kong’s financial system.
