OpenAI hosts Startups Week, an event for founders in Sydney

OpenAI will be hosting a series of events called Startups Week in Sydney from March 18-20.

VCs Square Peg and Side Stage Ventures and the Relevance AI team are hosting sessions alongside innovation hub Stone & Chalk, with access to OpenAI’s latest frontier models, multimodal updates, and Codex, an agent coding tool for multi-agent development workflows.

Thomas Jeng, APAC Head of OpenAI VC Partnerships, said the session aimed to provide founders with practical guidance on building AI-native companies and scaling with AI.

“OpenAI Startups Week is about getting builders hands-on with the technology,” he said.

“We explore the technical details of everything from implementing APIs and scaling AI-native products to optimizing costs and building reliable AI workflows.

Relevance AI will be hosting an AI Builder session at our headquarters next Wednesday. Co-CEO and founder Jackie Ko said the week will provide founders with a unique opportunity to learn directly from the teams building the frontiers of AI.

“As a startup that has grown on the foundation of OpenAI’s technology, we are excited to co-host the session with the OpenAI team and give builders hands-on access to new tools and live demos,” he said.

“We’re also introducing the launch of Relevance AI’s Programmatic GTM, a developer tool for GTM engineers looking to build and deploy teams of AI agents. Founders can expect practical guidance, real-world examples, and a behind-the-scenes look at how startups are building AI-native products today.”

Hands-on access

Stone & Chalk’s Chris Kirk said his company’s events give founders first-hand, hands-on access to the people and tools behind the technology that will form the next generation of AI-native companies.

“These aren’t hype sessions; they’re builder-focused workshops where founders can see what’s possible today. Solo founders are shipping products at speeds that previously required teams of 10, and startups are creating solutions that companies are still only piloting. This is a rare opportunity to first-hand witness the speed and ingenuity of Australia’s AI-native founders and help them build smarter, faster and globally.”
