G7 leaders are calling for responsible use of artificial intelligence. This happens at a time when the world is at the forefront of the global AI learning curve.
“Will we ever get to a Terminator-style machine that Hollywood has to offer? Probably not,” said digital anthropologist Giles Crouch.
It’s also worth noting that many aspects of AI are producing exciting results in both the digital and entertainment industries.
Technology analyst Carmi Levy said: “It’s really an eye-opener.”
According to Crouch, important aspects of AI have been around for quite some time.
“Suddenly, ChatGPT appeared.
“This could take away jobs and could exclude lawyers and doctors and people who were previously less affected by technology.”
“It could help eliminate the tedium of filling out forms and doing the same thing over and over again,” says Crouch. “It could also improve how we get treatment and make it easier to go to the doctor.”
What Crouch fears most, and where regulation is most needed: AI could be a gateway to massive amounts of disinformation.
“It can create all sorts of false facts, and we know it’s already been done,” Crouch said, adding that this could lead to social disharmony and threats to national security. I believe there is
