The race is on. between China and the United States. The stage is AI. The latest hit out of China, Seedance 2.0, an AI video model that generates cinematic shots, is going viral on social media, with many calling it a breakthrough that will shake up Hollywood, even those familiar with A and I. Seedance 2.0 isn’t available to the public yet, and while access is limited, it’s so good that sample videos will flood X within hours of its arrival.
Seeing Seedance 2.0’s capabilities, many X users say “Hollywood is cooked,” claiming that anyone can now create Hollywood-like movie videos.
What is Seedance 2.0 and why all the hype?
AI video tools are rapidly improving, and Seedance 2.0 appears to be the most capable tool yet, especially when it comes to cinematic scenes. It was created by ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok. This model was officially released on February 10, 2026 as a limited beta version of the Jimeng AI platform.
This new model allows you to generate short movie clips, typically between 4 and 15 seconds, using a combination of text prompts, images, video references, and even audio input. But unlike previous text-to-video tools that often produced glitchy or unrealistic results, this model seems to handle motion, lighting, framing, and character consistency much better. According to the development company, this is due to the director-level control this tool gives users.
This level of control, and the AI model’s ability to keep characters, lighting, and scenes consistent from shot to shot, is what drives the excitement online. Users testing Seedance 2.0 are sharing clips with smooth camera movements and dramatic scenes that are surprisingly close to actual studio productions.
hollywood is cooked
On X, users are posting videos that look like they’re straight out of a Hollywood movie, generated by Seedance 2.0. Some clips show Kanye West-style music videos with dramatic lighting and performance shots, while others feature flashy action sequences, from Will Smith fighting a giant spaghetti monster to absurdist epics like Godzilla vs. the Little Cat.
“Tom Cruise vs. Brad Pitt was created using Seedance 2.0. The consistency, accuracy and detail of the characters are so real. Hollywood is cooked,” one user wrote on X, praising the AI model.
While many users are praising how advanced Seedance’s video generation has become, there are also growing concerns. Some have expressed concerns about copyright and regulation. For example, Justin Moore, a partner at a major US venture capital firm, pointed out the unregulated use of AI models and the associated copyright implications.
“We’re completely mogged for video models because China doesn’t care about copyright. And Seadance 2 isn’t widely available in the US yet,” she wrote to X. “When it officially launches later this month, it will dominate all feeds. Something to think about.”
There are also broader legal and ethical issues, particularly when it comes to AI-generated clips that resemble real actors or imitate established series. Users have raised concerns about copyright, consent, and deepfake risks.
Either way, Seedance 2.0 leaves a strong impression, showing how rapidly AI video tools are advancing and offering a glimpse of what the future of filmmaking will look like.
