Under the agreement, the consortium and G42 will deploy large-scale cloud capacity across three data centers in Vietnam.

Abu Dhabi-based G42 and a consortium comprising FPT Corporation and Viet Thai Group recently signed a framework cooperation agreement to develop sovereign AI capabilities and cloud infrastructure across Vietnam. The initiative aims to support Vietnam’s ambitions to become an AI-native society and a major AI hub in Southeast Asia, while ensuring national data sovereignty and digital resilience.

The agreement formalizes the comprehensive partnership and establishes the legal, financial and regulatory framework necessary to advance the rollout across the country. This partnership, backed by up to $1 billion in spending commitments, represents an important milestone in Vietnam and the region’s digital transformation journey.

“This framework agreement represents a new model for national AI transformation built on sovereignty, partnership, and purpose. We are grateful to the Vietnamese government for its visionary leadership and to our partners FPT Corporation and Viet Thai Group for their commitment to building an infrastructure that allows Vietnam to harness the full potential of AI while maintaining data sovereignty and digital independence,” said Ali Al Amin, G42 International Chief Commercial Officer.

G42 deploys cloud capacity across three data centers in Vietnam

Under the agreement, the consortium and G42 will deploy large-scale cloud capacity across three data centers in Vietnam, delivering high-performance AI and cloud services to support public and private sector workloads.

This effort is in line with G42’s broader mission to build a global, comprehensive intelligence grid that interconnects advanced AI infrastructure, cloud platforms, and governance frameworks to enable AI capabilities on demand, while respecting national sovereignty.

Through this infrastructure, Vietnam will gain the technological foundation to develop national AI initiatives in both the public and private sectors, digitize services, and deploy AI-powered solutions aligned with national priorities.

“Vietnam clearly understands that it cannot move forward alone. In areas such as semiconductors, AI, cloud computing, big data, and cybersecurity, we need strategic alliances with trusted and reliable partners. Our leaders have shown strong commitment and built mutual trust, and now it is time to put those commitments into practice,” said Dr. Truong Gia Binh, Chairman of FPT Corporation.

Agreement that positions Vietnam as a strategic technology hub in the region

Beyond infrastructure development, the partnership includes plans for a national AI skills and workforce development program designed to support AI adoption across government, industry, and academia.

“This initiative will position Vietnam at the forefront of AI-driven economic development in Asia, supporting Vietnam’s economic development and middle class growth. Our partnership with G42 and FPT will build an infrastructure foundation for long-term growth and innovation across multiple sectors,” said David Thai, Chairman and CEO of Viet Thai Group.

Following the signing of the agreement, the consortium and G42 will move on to the next stages of execution, including finalizing the distribution of workloads between the public and private sectors, securing regulatory approval for public cloud implementation, and beginning site development for data center infrastructure. The initiative with the G42 is expected to generate significant economic benefits through direct investment in infrastructure, job creation and positioning Vietnam as a strategic technology hub in the region.
