Two similar Facebook posts showing Nigel Farage apparently visiting a child with cancer received thousands of interactions. The post described the visit as a “last wish” and claimed: “Nigel Farage canceled everything, boarded a plane and quietly entered a hospital room with no one watching. There were no spotlights, no spectators. Just a man kneeling next to a hospital bed, holding his frail hand, whispering words so powerful that doctors and nurses burst into tears.”

Images are AI-generated or AI-edited. Google’s reverse image search showed “Made with Google AI,” and Google’s AI assistant Gemini saw a SynthID watermark indicating the image was generated or modified by one of Google’s AI products.

The original photo showed American boy Branson Blevins with his father. Doctors diagnosed Branson with leukemia in 2024, but he died in October 2025 at the age of 11.

A spokesperson for Reform UK told Full Fact: “Reform UK has no involvement in the creation of these AI images.”

Many social media users believed the image was genuine and praised Mr Farage’s visit.

Mumbai video incorrectly shown as London

The video, which has been shared more than 8,000 times on X and Facebook, claims to show an “Indian foreigner” dumping trash into the “London River”, with one post reading: “This Indian foreigner has just dumped trash in the London River with his son. These people are uncivilized and their culture is incompatible with the Western world. Mass deportation cannot happen quickly. Deport them now!”

Someone shot a video in Mumbai, India. Visible landmarks include the Gateway of India monument and the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel. The Instagram account first shared the video on January 12th.

Users spread false claims promoting xenophobic rhetoric and anti-immigrant sentiment across social media platforms.
