New Delhi: Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) also introduced skills subjects for students in classes VI to VIII. Until now, technical subjects were mainly offered to students in schools from Class IX onwards. The board lists 33 subjects including artificial intelligence, financial literacy, coding, data science, augmented reality, Kashmir embroidery, satellite applications, humanity and Covid-19.
“The National Education Policy 2020 places a lot of emphasis on promoting skills education in schools. It calls for a gradual integration into mainstream education in all educational institutions.. Beginning with early vocational exposure in secondary and secondary schools, quality vocational education should be smoothly integrated into tertiary education. dear,” said a memorandum sent by the board to the principal.
Skill modules are 12-15 hours in length. Schools reportedly have to devote 70% of his time in these subjects to practical activities and 30% to theory.
“Schools can use ‘bagless days’ or vacation periods, summer camps, or activity periods to teach skill modules. Schools can also encourage more students to choose this academic session themselves. You may also consider having regular periods of selective skills modules to encourage you to do more,” added the circular.
