From the moment you step aboard, you’ll not only be transported to a galaxy far, far away, but you’ll also be spoiled for choice with a host of Star Wars-themed amenities. One of his things guests can experience on this unique “cruise ship” journey is concierge interacting with her droid D3-O9.
D3-O9, aka Deethree-Ohnine, is a protocol droid designed to assist guests with whatever they need on Halcyon. She can answer questions about ships and the galaxy, and even make dining and entertainment reservations.D3-O9 also has extensive knowledge of Halcyon’s history and lore.

Lore and History of D3-O9
According to D3-O9’s fictional history in “Star Wars” lore, the droid was built centuries ago by the founders of Chandrila Star Line, the company that owns the Halcyon Starcruiser.
D3-O9 was actually created by the Imagineers team at Walt Disney Imagineering. The team was led by R&D – Technology & Engineering Executive John Snoddy and included R&D Executive His Imagineer Leslie Evans and Disney Research Lab Director Doug Fidaleo.
The team spent several years developing the D3-O9. They used various technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and natural language processing. We also worked closely with Lucasfilm to ensure that D3-O9 is authentic in the “Star Wars” universe. The result is a helpful, lore-true droid capable of assisting guests with countless questions, tasks, and requests.
D3-O9’s Personality and Role in Halcyon
D3-O9 is a friendly and helpful droid who tries to help his guests whenever he can. She is eager to share her immense knowledge of Halcyon and the galaxy as a whole. This droid can chat both in Halcyon’s main lobby and inside each guest room.
In each cabin, the droids are designed to only listen when guests are called. However, if the guest deems this to be a privacy issue in their personal quarters, they can turn off the droid functionality entirely at their request. Ask any member of the cast for help if needed.
If guests choose to keep the droids on, they interact with visitors via panels on the walls of each room. In addition to its concierge capabilities, the D3-O9 also has the ability to educate guests about mission elements, quest details, and the immersive experiences found on board.
D3-O9 is happy to chat about the lore and history of “Star Wars” and is always ready to answer guests’ questions. She was programmed to be a friendly, kind, and knowledgeable droid, helping her with a variety of things, including:

D3-O9 is a breakthrough in interactive technology. The droid is also the first artificial intelligence to be installed in a Disney park attraction.
