The best features of NotebookLM are finally available on iOS and Android

AI Video & Visuals

NotebookLM has gained considerable popularity since Google released its AI app in 2023. Since then, Google has continued to update its AI Notebook app with new features, eventually bringing NotebookLM to Android and iOS devices as well. While this made the app more accessible, especially when traveling, it lacked some of the best features that desktop websites offered users, such as flashcards and quizzes. However, the most notable missing feature is a video overview. Thankfully, Google has finally brought this popular feature to the mobile version of NotebookLM.

For those who haven’t played around with NotebookLM, the app is essentially a digital notebook. You can also add different sources there and let Google search for them if you want. You can then ask specific questions about the source. This is very useful for watching long videos and making bullet points, or for keeping track of wordy documents that you don’t always have time to look up.

Over time, Google has updated the app and added some really cool features like audio overviews and even video overviews that use AI to create realistic podcasts of your sources. However, despite launching video overviews in the online version of NotebookLM in 2025, Android and iOS users had to wait almost a year for this option to appear in the mobile app.

How to use video summaries in NotebookLM’s Android and iOS apps

It’s worth noting that this update hasn’t rolled out to all devices yet, but we hope to see an option to generate video summaries within the app soon. To start using NotebookLM’s video overview on your smartphone or tablet, launch the app and click[Studio]Just tap on the option. From here, from the generated list[ビデオ概要]You will be able to select options. If you still don’t see it, make sure your device has the latest updates and try again.

The release notes listed on the app’s iOS app store page also suggest that several other features are coming, including the ability to customize the type of infographics the video overview produces. However, these symptoms are not yet seen with every update of the app. However, once enabled, you’ll be able to choose between two different formats: Detailed and Presenter, which will drastically change the way you assemble your videos. You should also be able to change the output language settings and slide length. The ability to easily generate a complete video summary of your information and customize how it is generated right from your phone is a really nice update to the NotebookLM app.

Why we love NotebookLM

One of NotebookLM’s biggest advantages over traditional AIs like Gemini and ChatGPT is the fact that NotebookLM only pulls from specified sources. This means you’ll have fewer concerns about hallucinations in the data your AI generates. It typically only comes from direct sources added by users, but some users have shared on Reddit that they can miss important information or get incorrect information based on user questions. You should always double-check the work you do with AI programs.

Google has also received a lot of praise for NotebookLM, especially for its various features such as audio summaries and quiz systems. Additionally, the video synopsis was generally well received when it was first released. The best part is that you no longer need to log into the desktop app just to create a video summary. No matter where you are, you can operate it comfortably using your smartphone.
