Infosys Foundation Chairman and Rajya Sabha Member Sudha Murthy has warned against the circulation of false AI-generated videos on social media that appear to endorse investment schemes. Murthy told X that he is not providing investment advice and dismissed the claims in these videos as completely fabricated.
In a video message shared online, Marty revealed that the clip, which is mainly circulating on Facebook, was created using artificial intelligence (AI) without her permission. He urged the public to rely only on trusted banks and official sources for financial guidance.
The lawmaker said several people she knows have already suffered financial losses by acting on the false assurances made in these manipulated videos.
Defakes show that Marty supports questionable investment programs, many of which he claims provide excessive returns. Some contain links that direct users to fake websites designed to collect personal or sensitive information.
“A lot of people I know are losing money investing,” she says. “I never talk about financial investments and I never do anything with money. I talk about work, about Indian culture, about women and education,” she added.
“Don’t make financial decisions based on these scam videos. Check the facts through official channels and report any scam content you come across. Stay alert and stay safe. Jai Hind,” Murthy warned.
Marty has been a recurring target of deepfake scams like this one. Just last month, a similar manipulated video featuring her went viral, in which she purportedly encouraged viewers to click on a link promoting “investment opportunities.” These scams use advanced AI techniques such as voice cloning and facial manipulation to impersonate her and lure victims with promises of unrealistic returns on investment.
