SAN DIEGO — Artificial intelligence can streamline clinical services and provide decision support to clinicians, but it’s not without its pitfalls, according to speakers at the ACP Internal Medicine Conference.
during the presentation Deepti Pandita, MD, FACP, FAMIA, The Chief Medical Information Officer of the University of California, Irvine Health, and his colleagues discussed responsible AI use, generative AI, ChatGPT, and how AI can help and exacerbate health inequalities.
“We’re also talking about the fact that many clinicians are using AI, but AI is delivered seamlessly through AI, so they may not even know they’re using it. . [electronic medical record]said Pandita.
She noted that AI has improved diagnostics in specialties such as radiology and ophthalmology. She said, “The clinician doesn’t have to do much, and she can trust the AI with the reports it provides.”
