Articul8 invests over $35 million in AI application platform

Applications of AI

Articul8 AI Inc., a startup that helps businesses build artificial intelligence applications, has closed the first tranche of a $70 million funding round.

tech crunch reported Today, it was announced that the value of the investment exceeded $35 million. Adara Ventures led the deal, with participation from chipmaker NXC Corp., Aditya Birla Ventures and others. Articul8 is now valued at more than $500 million.

Santa Clara, California-based Articul8 was spun out of Intel Corp. in 2024 with backing from private equity firm DigitalBridge, which is now being acquired by SoftBank Group. The company sells an AI platform derived from technology developed by the chip giant. Intel uses software to power an AI assistant that helps engineers troubleshoot manufacturing equipment. Articul8 says its platform is also suitable for a variety of other use cases.

The software includes a collection of prepackaged AI agents, each focused on a different set of tasks. Analyze manufacturers' engineering drawings to find ways to make your production line more efficient. The other helps utilities optimize their grid infrastructure. Articul8 also offers representation for banks, car manufacturers, and other companies.

The latest addition to Articul8's agent lineup, Table Understanding Agent, debuted last month. It is designed to extract information from spreadsheets. According to Articul8, this agent outperforms ChatGPT at data interpretation tasks such as determining whether a text snippet is a column title or a table title.

The agents that come with Articul8's platform are based on custom AI models. Businesses can use these models to build automation applications. Articul8 says its custom AI software can be deployed on its platform within 10 weeks, which is approximately four times faster than competitors' deployment times.

A built-in tool called the LLM IQ Agent API helps developers identify the best AI models for new applications. Comparing AI models typically requires software teams to compile custom evaluation datasets, which can take a significant amount of time. According to Articul8, the LLM IQ Agent API skips that step.

Some applications use multiple AI models instead of one. Articul8's platform includes a module called ModelMesh that allows you to tune the models used by your services, monitor their performance, and generate audit logs. This module works with the platform's built-in models as well as third-party algorithms.

Articul8 expects to generate $57 million in revenue this year. The company currently has 29 customers, including Intel, Amazon Web Services, and other companies in the technology industry, and plans to expand its installed base by investing the new funding in feature development and international expansion efforts.

The company plans to close its Series B round later this quarter.
