of Cisco AI Research The group is a multidisciplinary unit of AI scientists, data specialists, and network engineers collaborating on large-scale pioneering research. The team focuses on both basic and applied research in AI, tackling the complex challenges that arise when connecting billions of people and devices around the world.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with thought leaders in artificial intelligence, distributed systems, and network automation. The successful candidate will be one of the founding members of our rapidly growing AI team and help shape its culture, research priorities, and long-term vision.
Position overview

- We conduct cutting-edge research in generative AI, LLM, and network-specific AI applications.
- Design and implement scalable machine learning solutions for automation, network optimization, and intelligent systems.
- Build and fine-tune basic models including multimodal and domain-specific architectures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to apply research findings to real-world products and infrastructure.
- Stay aware of global advances in AI, present your research in prestigious venues, and contribute to Cisco's research leadership.
- Present results at internal and external conferences, hold technical workshops, and mentor budding researchers.
minimum qualifications
- PhD in Computer Science or a closely related technical field with machine learning or AI research or industry experience. or master's degree Additionally, extensive pre- and post-training experience with large-scale language models.

Compensation and benefits
The expected compensation range for this role in the US is: $160,100 – $207,900depending on location, skills, and experience. In addition to base salary, eligible employees may receive annual bonus and participate Cisco's Comprehensive Benefits Programinclude:
