“I wanted to connect with other students and faculty at Bentley to find ways to explore, build, and apply artificial intelligence across disciplines, from deep technology research to creative real-world innovation,” says Griffiths.
To make that happen, he collaborated with assistant professors at CIS. Ahmad Aljanaideh In the fall of 2024, we launched the Bentley Artificial Intelligence Society (BAIS). The goal is to provide education on the principles, ethics, and practical applications of AI while supporting career development through targeted training.
“By fostering a collaborative community passionate about AI in business, Bentley Artificial Intelligence Society helps prepare students and universities for success in an evolving technological environment,” said Griffiths.
Aljanaideh agrees. “We believe the Bentley Artificial Intelligence Society adds essential value to the university community. Given that we live in an era where AI is relevant to many aspects of business, this organization will help students continue to address a variety of opportunities, challenges, and risks.”
Griffiths comes to the table with technical skill, but understands that not everyone has it. “We want to provide opportunities for people to learn, engage, and explore AI, regardless of their background or major.”
Although the student body is still young, Griffith aims to offer a wide range of programs, from entry-level, teaching the fundamentals and everyday applications of AI, to more in-depth opportunities for students majoring in specialized fields. To raise awareness about BAIS, Griffiths gave a presentation at Bentley CIS Sandbox A showcase and 15th anniversary ceremony will be held in November. “We are creating space for project development, mentorship, and collaboration with faculty and industry experts.”
