Suspected AI/ML developer claims to have been working on Half-Life 3 technology, announcement scheduled for December 11th

An alleged artificial intelligence/machine learning developer who claims to have been working on technology for Valve Corporation’s rumored Half-Life 3 says an announcement for the game is imminent.

In a post on the Valve and Half-Life subreddits, users wrote Source 2 leak AIML Although they are not employees of Valve, they claimed to work at a leading artificial intelligence (AI)/machine learning (ML) lab that partners with the company on groundbreaking physics technology for gaming. Although unconfirmed, the post is gaining attention because it includes the additional claim that Half-Life 3’s official announcement is scheduled to take place on December 11, 2025.

Half Life 3 Announcement

The alleged AI/ML developer says he will immediately delete his account, but Valve’s barrier to developing Half-Life 3 wasn’t story or design, but computational cost. “The breakthrough technology Valve was waiting for was the ability to use machine learning to handle physics, particularly fluids and fracture, rather than expensive deterministic calculations,” they said.

Source2LeakAIML claims that Valve has integrated a new pipeline into Source 2 that relies on brute force high-fidelity simulation only during the training phase. These simulations are used to generate “ground truth datasets” that power machine learning models that can predict complex physical interactions in real time. In their words, this approach allows for “cinematic quality water simulation, 1:1 structural destruction, and complex vehicle physics all to run smoothly on mid-tier GPUs.”

The argument is that the hardware essentially offloads the heaviest physics computations to pre-trained ML models, significantly reducing runtime costs. According to the alleged developer, the technology could allow developers to achieve “100 times more physical interactivity at less than 1% of historical computing costs.” They describe Half-Life 3 as a flagship demonstration of this progress.

Source2LeakAIML mentioned one more detail in a follow-up comment. They said, “Last information, the date HL3 will be announced is December 11th. You may log back in on the 12th to answer further questions about the physics part. Prepare to be shocked!”
