The Australian subsidiary of US-based Anduril Industries showcased one of its latest products, an artificial intelligence (AI)-based combat helmet with an augmented reality head-up display (HUD), at the Military Communications and Information Systems (MilCIS) 2025 exhibition in Canberra in November.
talk to janesAnduril Australia CEO David Goodrich said the product, named Eagle Eye, was designed to meet the requirements of the US military’s Soldier Mounted Mission Command (SBMC) system. The Army plans to test Eagle Eye in 2026, Goodrich added.
According to the US Army, the SBMC system is expected to employ mixed reality tools and ensure networked information sharing to improve soldiers’ situational awareness and enable them to identify and eliminate potential threats in a timely manner.
EagleEye may also be adopted by the Australian Defense Force (ADF). This aligns with the ADF’s focus on incorporating more AI technology to increase the lethality of dismounted soldiers and deepen interoperability with the United States and other allies. Goodrich said Eagle Eye could be considered for ADF’s Land 300 and Land 4140 programs.
Land 300 is intended to enhance the ADF’s close combat capabilities, while Land 4140 is intended to enhance the ADF’s communications and decision-making capabilities in conflict environments. “As a first step, we believe there is room for an approach based on Land 4140 that looks at how ADF can aggregate data from disparate dismounted systems and incorporate it into a common experience,” Goodrich added.
