A video of a leopard rescuing a cub from a crocodile has gone viral on the internet.
Newschecker also received the video on its WhatsApp tipline (+91-9999499044) and sought fact-checking.

A detailed analysis of the clip revealed multiple visual inconsistencies that strongly indicated that the footage was generated by AI. The shape of the animal carcass carried by the leopard changes from frame to frame, and the number of crocodiles fluctuates. You will now see three animals in one frame instead of the two seen earlier. In another example, a crocodile’s head appears to morph into a tail, suggesting frame-level distortion often seen in synthetic visuals.
To further verify, we processed some of the clips using Hive Moderation’s AI detection tools and found that there was a 99.9% chance that the media was either AI-generated or deepfake in nature.
Additional checks of individual frames in WasItAI also confirmed that the still images were “very confidently” created by the AI, at least in important parts.
We also noted that there was a “Stranger Pet” watermark within the video. A YouTube channel of the same name uploaded the clip on September 23, 2025, labeling it as “altered or synthetic content.”
