OpenAI brought Sora AI to iOS last month, and the AI video generation platform is now available to Android users in select countries.
Sora is coming to Android users, but India is not on the list
Starting this week, OpenAI will make the Sora AI video generation model available in the form of an app for Android users. The iOS version was released last month, but the AI Video app is now available for download from the Play Store in some regions. As you may know, Sora is an AI model from OpenAI that can generate videos from text prompts and images.
The feature is still limited to premium Plus and Pro users on the ChatGPT roster, but its availability on Android suggests a free version isn’t far away.
Sora AI app for Android: What we offer
Sora AI works the same in web and mobile versions. The mobile app is relatively quick and easy to use. It has a Reels-like interface and allows you to create videos using text prompts or by uploading images.
You can also add friends to your videos and share edited versions with others to get more likes and more reach. You can also remix AI videos in your own way. Sora also has a feed of AI videos from other people that you can find. Look at it as a reel of AI videos.
Sora AI on Android is available in the following regions:
- Canada
- Japan
- South Korea
- Taiwan
- Thailand
- us
- Vietnam
India is surprisingly left out of the list, as many Indian users sign up for the ChatGPT Go version (or free offer), which doesn’t offer Sora features. However, we expect this to change in the near future as OpenAI looks to bring more users to these platforms and help them train and improve their AI models.
OpenAI is facing heat from Japanese anime creators who have written letters to AI companies warning them about using licensed content to train AI models.
We’ve seen images generated using Studio Ghibli and other anime-style prompts, but now the Content Overseas Distribution Association (CODA), an organization that works with these creators, has raised concerns about OpenAI’s use of the content to train AI video models for Sora.
In a letter, the production organization said that the use of licensed content is not ideal and asked OpenAI to stop using anime to train Sora 2 video generation models.
