The BJP on Wednesday mocked the ongoing power struggle within the Karnataka Assembly by sharing an AI-generated video depicting a game of musical chairs for the chief minister’s seat.
The satirical clip features caricatures of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, Home Minister G Parameshwara and PWD Minister Satish Jarkiholi vying for the coveted position.
In the animated video, four leaders circle around the Prime Minister’s chair, each trying to outwit the other and take the chair. The Karnataka unit of the BJP shared a video on social media with the caption “Countdown to November revolution!”, hinting that a shake-up in the ruling Congress government’s leadership is imminent.
Speculation about a possible changing of the guard has dominated Karnataka politics for the past few months. The conversation dates back to the 2023 parliamentary elections when Congress returned to power.
During the formation of the government, DK Shivakumar played a pivotal role in the party’s landslide victory and was considered a strong candidate for the post of chief minister. However, the high command ultimately chose Siddaramaiah for the top post and convinced Shivakumar to accept the post of deputy chief minister and continue as the state Congress chief.
Although some reports have suggested a power-sharing arrangement between the two leaders, neither the party nor its leadership has publicly acknowledged such an understanding.
