- Google photos may be lined up for another AI upgrade
- Photo-to-Video feature may display a full prompt box
- Google shows its ongoing commitment to AI capabilities
One neat trick that an AI bot can do is turn a still image into a short video clip. This is something you can already do with Google Photos. Now it appears that this feature will get a substantial upgrade.
As the Android Authority team has discovered, the latest Google Photos app has hidden code.
This gives you much more flexibility than the current options that began to be deployed to some users in July: “subtle moves” and “I feel lucky.” These options primarily allow AI to decide how to animate your photos.
This feature is still available by Google's older VEO 2 models. Although it hasn't reached the standards for the latest VEO 3 models, it still has the potential to deliver impressive and enjoyable results. All you need is the starting image.
Continuous spread of AI
This is another example of how Google is pushing AI tools into all of its various apps and services. It offers Gemini, VEO and other models a wider reach than competitors like ChatGPT can currently manage.
This extends to gadgets too. Google has recently introduced a variety of new smart home products, including updated nested cameras and Google Smart Speakers arriving next year.
Still, Openai continues to expand its offerings with more apps, including the recently launched Sora 2 video app and attached social networks. Rumors continue to say that hardware devices equipped with ChatGPT are also on the way.
There is no guarantee that hidden features discovered in Google Photos will eventually be visible and unfolded to everyone, but it seems likely that this will be the next step.
