Humanity, the world's second most valuable AI startup, released a major model upgrade this week. I chatted with Alex Albert, the head of developer relations. I also asked him how he uses AI in his personal life.
Albert said he has kept the Claude Chatbots of humanity to a massive amount, but he was particularly impressed with “general life management and management capabilities.”
Because Claude and his siblings Claude Code have access to the entire computer, Albert sometimes asks the chatbot to diagnose a laptop issue. In a recent example, Chrome seemed to be running slowly. Claude discovered that the browser uses too much memory, and Fixed the problem alone.
Albert also asked Claude to clean up the digital desktop on his computer. The chatbot classifies images and other random files into related groups, creates new folders, and places the correct ones in the right place.
Then there's what Albert called “atmosphere marketing.” Claude allows you to scan your computer for all your files and search for folders, downloads, and more. Reports and articles can be automatically created based on these digital assets, he explained.
By accessing the web, Claude can also create memes and harvest images. Albert used this feature to create something interesting to post on X.
Claude also allows you to draw art in an Excel spreadsheet by automatically filling cells with different colors. “Excel art is all,” Albert told me. This is what he created Claude.
Beyond this fun thing, Claude is extremely good at Excel, according to Professor Ethan Morrick, who studies AI use. (I'm particularly excited about this because I'm not sure how the spreadsheet formula is.)
