Nintex announces agent AI capabilities to enhance business automation

Nintex has announced new artificial intelligence capabilities as part of its Agent Business Orchestration Strategy, which aims to enhance intelligent processes, business orchestration, and the development of dedicated solutions on the Nintex CE platform.

Agent approach

The announcement is central to the agent business orchestration, Nintex's strategic direction for business process automation and application development. With agent capabilities, the Nintex CE platform is designed to unify legacy systems, manual processes and AI agents, transforming the way organizations deliver strategic business outcomes. Intelligent agents within the platform can dynamically manage workflows, assign tasks, and coordinate processes within the organizational governance framework.

These extensions include six new AI actions for document processing and agent designers. This is a future feature for building and coordinating enterprise-grade AI agents. Existing generation AI features such as AI Process Generators and AI Workflow Generators are complemented by these additions.

Maureen Fleming, IDC's Vice President of Intelligent Process Automation Research Program, commented on the broader market context.

Platform Development

Nintex has evolved from its original process engine roots to create an integrated Nintex CE platform. This allows organizations to build AI-powered solutions while mapping, automating and coordinating operations across people and systems. The current direction aims to integrate AI and human-driven innovation and support business outcomes with dedicated solutions while addressing governance and scalability requirements.

Nintex CEO Amit Mathradas highlighted a shift beyond traditional automation.

The platform's direction is to allow organizations to coordinate human, system, and AI agents' interactions through a single environment focused on strategic outcomes through custom built solutions.

Agent Designer and Governance Features

Future agent designers will enable organizations to design, evaluate and coordinate AI agents within the NINTEX CE platform. Its key features include building agents from scratch, or customizing templates, coordinating agents with workflows and applications, integrating these agents into the core business system and incorporating third-party agents as needed. All tasks are managed in a governed, low-coded environment suitable for mission-critical operations.

The company highlights how agent designers simplify the creation of professional AI agents for IT leaders and business technicians while maintaining consistency with governance and compliance frameworks.

AI Document Processing

Nintex has also introduced AI document processing. This is a feature that allows organizations to interpret documents and images more efficiently and act on images as part of an orchestrated workflow. This is particularly relevant to sectors with important document intake requirements such as financial services, government, healthcare, and manufacturing.

Key native AI actions include text extraction, language detection, real-time translation, long document summaries, sentiment analysis, and structured information extraction. All of these are designed to reduce manual reviews, unlock insights from unstructured data, and improve your decision-making process.

Kyle Seitz, president of Snap Consulting, highlighted the importance of these capabilities in the healthcare sector.

“The processing of NINTEX AI documents has a great chance that unstructured documents will be poured from multiple sources in all kinds of formats. Extracting important chart details from scanned PDFs is always a slow manual process, but this technology can be dramatically streamlined.

The new features are designed to help organizations manage operational risk amid increasing requirements for business processes, support compliance, and monitoring in AI-driven automation.
