On Wednesday (September 17, 2025), Patna High Court instructed Congress parties to remove AI-generated videos depicting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother from social media. The divisional bench, led by the chairman of Pb Baijanthri, has passed an order for a public interest litigation petition filed in the court.
The court has also issued notices to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and other related parties. The petition also appointed the Federal Government and the Election Commission as respondents.
The official X-account of Bihar Congress posted a 36-second clip on September 10, 2025, showing that the Prime Minister's mother is blaming his politics in a dream.
The court said such videos violated guidelines set out by the Supreme Court and various High Courts. He directed social media intermediaries to prevent the distribution of videos, saying that the right to privacy and dignity is part of a person's fundamental rights.

In response to the court's order, the Janata Dal (Unification) of the verdict and leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party have once again criticised the opposition to the issue, calling the video “dirty politics.”
“The Patna High Court order on AI-generated videos about PM and his late mother makes clean politics possible. The order proves that politics should not be so low. Krishna.
The National Democratic Alliance's female leaders have denounced the Congressional Party, claiming that “injuring women have become the fate of the Congressional Party.”
“The video was also socially and politically disparaged. The court's orders are a mirror of those who argue that the Constitution is always at risk,” said JD(U) MLC and spokesman Neeraj Kumar.
